TEDx is coming, TEDx is coming!!
The title of ‘Favorite TED talk’ is always changing for me. But right now the title belongs to Rachel Botsman and her discussion of the radically obvious concept of collaborative consumption. Historically, my ‘favorite TEDtalk’ title belonged to Saul Griffith and his inspiring talk on ‘Kite Power’, then changed to the economic paradigm presented by Shai Agassi on his discussion of electric cars and the ‘eMile’. Other favorites include a interview with Wikileaks founder Julian Assange, marketing insights from visionary Seth Godin, Lewis Pughs inspirational Arctic and Everest open water swims and Willie Smits who is actually fixing the climate and restoring biodiversity.
TED has grown wildly in popularity over the years and now TEDx events are sprouting up all over the world. This includes our little community of Waterloo Region which will host it’s second TEDx event (TEDxWaterloo) on March 3rd, 2011. You can keep track of speakers being added as well as other goings on at the TEDxWaterloo website and apply for a ticket here.
If you feel a bit strange applying for an event with a $40 ticket price, you’re not alone. But, by ensuring that the event has the most engaged audience possible the organizers are right to think that the event can be most impactful. With inspiring speakers and an audience of individuals open for inspiration great things can happen.
If you apply to attend (strongly recommended), add yourself to the “Maybe Attending” pool of people on the Facebook event page.
Hope to see you there - if my application is accepted.
